Rudolph Kurz Obituary

Gilboa – Rudolph F. Kurz, 79, found eternal peace on Thursday, May 23, 2019.

Born on December 25, 1939 in the Bronx, Rudy was the only son of Caroline (Hudik) and Rudolph Kurz.

He worked for many years as the Superintendent of Building and Grounds at South Orangetown Central School District before retiring in 1994 and moving to the peace and comfort of his hilltop home in Gilboa in 1995, which he helped to build.

Rudy loved being in nature, some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, and camping with his family. He was also fiercely proud of his German heritage and attended countless Oktoberfests, enjoying the culture's music.

His greatest love and pride were his family, including his wife, Helene (Mucila) Kurz, whom he married on February 16, 1960. Together they had two kids, son: Robert Kurz of Mystic Island, NJ and daughter: Theresa Zavodsky whom expanded the family by marrying Craig Zavodsky ending up in Barnegat, NJ. Each of Rudy's children gave him grandchildren: Camille and Alec Kurz and Sarah and Tyler Zavodsky.

While a celebration of Rudolph’s life will be held privately, his family thanks you for remembering them through this time and also extends gratitude to Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, of Middleburgh for their compassion, care and support in honoring Rudolph’s life.
