Middleburgh – Gloria E. Heim, 91, found eternal peace on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, with her family surrounding her.
She was born September 9, 1927, in the Bronx, the daughter of the late Louis and Louise Eckert. Her family moved to Middleburgh where she attended Middleburgh Central School and graduated in 1946.
She corresponded for three years with Marcus Heim, Jr., while he was stationed in Europe in World War II. They met when he returned to the United States and later married, sharing 55 wonderful years together before Marcus predeceased her in 2002.
Gloria was a secretary for Middleburgh Central School for 25 years and like her husband, loved her community. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and active in the Eastern Star, Timothy Murphy Post # 248 American Legion and MEVAC (Middleburgh Emergency Volunteer Ambulance Corps). She was a talented seamstress, as well as skilled in knitting and crocheting. She used her many talents to enrich the organizations for which she volunteered, making quilts, lap robes, sweaters, or baked items for sharing or donating.
God’s love shown through her beautiful smile and her kind, gentle manner. She loved children and truly was a friend to everyone she met.
Gloria’s love and spirit will always be treasured and missed by her daughter: Arnelle Heim Blinderman, her son-in-law: Brian Blinderman, her granddaughter Sarah (Blinderman) Stein, Sarah’s husband: Russell, two great-granddaughters: Madison Rose and Gabriella Faye Stein.
A graveside service and interment will take place in the spring, at a date and time to be announced, in Middleburgh Cemetery.
Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC of Middleburgh is honored to be caring for Gloria and her family.
