Fultonham - Life came full circle to Alfred J. Forte on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 in the warmth of his home and in the love of his family.
Al was born on September 27, 1948 in Brooklyn to Elsie L. (Verderosa) and Nicholas J. Forte. Perhaps the greatest part of his youth and teenage years was a chance meeting, at 17 in high school and sharing a ChoCho pop, with a beautiful girl he would fall in love with and treasure until his last breath.
A hard worker, he earned a degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College in New York, but instead formed his own company, Hilary Haulage, Inc in New York. He worked tirelessly at its success while living first in Brooklyn, then Manhattan for 45 years and finally purchasing their country home in Fultonham in 1983. Retirement found Al there, up a quiet, country road, nestled in a small valley under shade trees. Their country home added priceless charm, solace and memories to his already rich life. It’s also where he would practice his marksmanship too, scaring the squirrels away with his BB gun.
A beautiful spirit, overflowing with zest for life and talent, Al never missed an opportunity to travel, hitting Atlantic City and his favorite casinos, enjoying the company of friends and fine dining and taking in a Broadway show. Music ran deep in his soul and he shared his passion for playing his guitar and singing with everyone he loved. Al was a friend to everyone and gave of his time and talent to anyone in need without hesitation.
His life, love and memory will be he held forever in the hearts of his best friend and soulmate: Pamela Forte of Fultonham; his cherished daughter: Hilary Forte of Massapequa, who loved her “Lion King” and will treasure “Mufasa” forever, seeing his reflection in her own eyes and spirit; his brother: Joseph (Judith) Forte of Boca Raton, FL.; sister: Susan (Frank) Hebert of Vero Beach, FL; sister-in-law: Abby (Steven) Fino of Marlboro, NJ; brother-in-law: Todd Shalack of Plantation, FL; nieces and nephews: Donna, Michael, Nancy, James, Susan, Thomas, Darus, Carolyn, Steven, Frank, Steven, Nicolette, Athena, Helena.
Al was predeceased by his parents and his brother: Nicholas J. Forte, Jr.
A celebration of Al’s life will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh. All are invited to visit with his family from 2-4PM and 6-8PM on Monday, May 6, 2019 and 12-2PM on Tuesday, May 7, prior to the service.
