Charlotte M. Brouwer

Ridge, NY- Charlotte M. Brouwer, 55, of Ridge, NY died June 6, 2017 after a courageous fight against cancer.

She was born in Stamford, NY on January 3, 1962 to Charlotte (Dunscombe) and Jacob Brouwer.

Charlotte graduated from Middleburgh Central School in 1980 and Southampton University in 1984.

Charlotte served 30 years in management of nursing homes and health care for the elderly with an impeccable record. She was a N.Y.S. certified hike leader on Long Island, taking groups on scenic and historical tours. She ran her own business on the side as Suffolk County Singles getting many couples together for line dancing, wine tasting, and other events. Charlotte was also an active member of Middle Island Presbyterian Church.  Since her announcement of cancer in 2015 she coordinated, supported and was an activist for cancer patients. She will be missed by family and many friends, but also greatly welcomed by those before her in Heaven.

 Charlotte’s family includes her brothers: Jacob (Susan) Brouwer, III of Hesperia, CA, Glenn (Kim) Brouwer of Yucca Valley, CA; her aunts; Marjory Rivenburg of Middleburgh, Beryl (Douglas) Shaylor of Hendersonville, NC;  uncle: Edward (Mary) Dunscombe of Middleburgh and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 10AM on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street,  Middleburgh with Reverend Carol Coltrain, of the Huntersland United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Middleburgh Cemetery.
